K'SANDRA
Music Genres: Pop, Dance
Nominated for Dance Artist of the Year, K'SANDRA unveils Light’n’Dark on 11/11/11, featuring songs from a
Slash/Fergie producer & a Beyonce/Keri Hilson writer + collaborators of Snoop Dogg & Usher. Think GaGa
meets the Doors, Kiss meets Katy Perry.

K'SANDRA has found her audience by helping them get lost.  Lost in the music the way listeners used to get
lost in Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin songs.

"I admire how they found a groove to put themselves into a trance, losing track of all space and time around
them," K'SANDRA says.

Her inspiration came when she decided to put that rock feel together with dance.  In her music, unstoppable
beats combine with a rock'n'roll sensibility in a way that takes listeners on a journey that pulls them into the
moment and keeps them there.  The music sneaks into your ears at the same time it moves up from your
feet, and meets in the middle.  The result is pure K'SANDRA - music for the mind, body and heart.

She's not all about happy feet.  There is a sadness, a depth in her music that tinges the celebration with
longing.  Her music embraces the full experience of being human - the happy and the sad, the joyful and the
melancholy, the stillness of peace and the restless movement of the body compelled by a relentless beat. It's
the kind of music you relate to more than listen to.  "It is all about the magic that is left in people's memories
once you are gone and your music lives on," she says.

All these paradoxes are captured in her new album "Light'n'Dark".  Think Lady Gaga meets the Doors.  Think
Kiss meets Kylie Minogue.  Think about the appeal of pop and dance with a rock'n'roll heart.  Her titles
include "Finger on the Trigger", "Gossip" and "Push the Girl".  And to prove she's not just a Gaga-come-
lately, her album will include her spoken-word poetry.  This is a true artist, not a mere flash in the pan.

She comes from a background of discipline and commitment, qualities she developed while studying at a
classical conservatory.  She studied music, singing and ballet, all the while developing her punk rock and
rave personal style.  The battle between the sublime and the sultry meant that she would inevitably leave the
classical world for the club world, but the two influences join together immaculately in "Light'n'Dark".  She is a
disciplined rebel.

K'SANDRA is building bridges between genres and, judging by her international fan base, also between
countries.  She is building a career that promises to smash through the barriers of radio formats, the
boundaries of style, and the expectations of the restless modern listener.

"Light'n'Dark" features tracks written by a Natasha Bedingfield/ Beyonce/ Keri Hilson writer and a
Slash/Fergie producer as well as producers that worked with Snoop Dogg and Usher.  But don't forget her
strongest influence: K'SANDRA herself.  She is a one-woman dynamo, artist and entrepreneur.  There is only
one word that describes her.

K'SANDRA.

2AM Club know how to throw a party—and it’s not one you’re going to forget the next day. Funk, pop, rock, blue-eyed soul, hip-hop, new
wave, and electro all converge to create a genre-bending sound that’s completely unique, instantly relatable, and practically begging to be
danced to. These six 20-something guys—singer Marc Griffin, emcee Tyler Cordy, guitarist Matt Reagan, keyboard player Dave Dalton,
drummer Ian O’Neill and bassist Matt Warshauer, AKA “Sauce”—bring a diverse array of influences to the table (Jay Z to the Beatles, Duran
Duran to the Beastie Boys, Stevie Wonder to The Strokes), effortlessly synthesizing the very best of all that has come before them to create
music that is resoundingly modern.
One part Seattle, one part Bay Area and one part Northeast, the group came together in Los Angeles in 2007 and honed their skills playing
the local college scene before heading up and down the West Coast, booking, producing, and headlining their own gigs. After recording
some demos with Jerry Harrison—a former member of the Talking Heads and Modern Lovers—2AM Club played a now-legendary four-
month residency they called “Tiny Porno” at the Derby in L.A., and word quickly spread that it was the place to be: “We wanted to create an
environment that wasn’t like the typical L.A. promotional circuit,” says Sauce. “We wanted something raw, sweaty, dark, and disgusting. It
turned into a huge thing.”
2AM Club’s shows never fail to explode with energy, heightened by the hyperactive musical tango between Tyler and Marc’s vocals, and the
way that the band—named for a beloved Bay Area bar known for being a welcoming chill spot for a random assortment of locals—honor
their moniker by making their shows an all-inclusive, unpretentious good time for all who attend.
“Our idea has always been to try to break down the fourth wall,” says Tyler. “A lot of bands play for the audience while the audience just
stands there. We wanted a different dynamic. Everybody’s in the room and we’re all listening to music, we should be experiencing it
together. The Tiny Porno shows were crucial because they exploded with that kind of crazy energy.”
With a buzz like that, it was only a matter of time before the labels came knocking, and 2AM Club signed with RCA Records in September
2008. Since then, they’ve relocated to NYC, where they’ve been sequestered in the studio with seasoned producers Sam Hollander and
Dave Katz (Boys Like Girls, Katy Perry, Gym Class Heroes), recording tracks for their debut album.
With live crowd-pleasers such as “Flashing Room” (a thumping, ode to sex that’s a bit more than casual, featuring soaring 80s-esque
synths, sly rock riffs, and a sky-high chorus), “Hurricane” (a seductive slow jam that unspools into panoramic pop), and “Let Me Down Easy”
(which sounds like what might happen if Eminem body-slammed New Edition) already in the bag, expect rip-roaring rock riffs, punchy new
wave-inflected synths, ass-shaking hip-hop beats, clever wordplay (exhibit a: “she left her cares on the bedpost, next to her lipstick and her
Mentos”), and a dash of good old Motown-style soul. In other words, expect a record full of unique and entirely creative cuts that span a vast
musical landscape.
While there may be touches of everyone from Prince to Maroon 5 to Justin Timberlake to D’Angelo in their DNA, the interplay between Marc’
s smooth singing voice and Tyler’s effortless staccato flow makes 2AM Club sound completely fresh. They also lay strong emphasis on solid
songwriting (an effort that involves the whole band), giving them a lyrical and melodic sophistication that’s rarely seen in groups so young.
2AM Club’s songs may be predominantly about sex and girls, nights out and lights out, but they’re also inventive, intelligent, and shot
through with real sentiment because they’re written about things that are actually happening in the band member’s lives.
“Pop music has been made for so long, a lot of it has obviously become cliché and hackneyed,” says Tyler. “We’re hoping that if we can
make it a little bit smarter, we can take it somewhere new and cool and exciting. It comes down to a bigger idea of love and conflict and
greatness and bullshit. I think most people can identify with that, but then on another level it’s also just super dumb drunk party music—you
can take from it what you will.”
“I think we’ve all always wanted to be saying something with music,” adds Marc. “That’s why we started out in poetry slams and doing hip-
hop. We may be making music that’s more pop now, which has this overarching feeling of being catchy and melodic and cheeky, but
we’re hoping you can listen to it 20 times and still be taking something new away from it on a deeper level.”
“In other words,” says Matt, “we’re hoping the album will be something you can play at a party, but that you’ll also want to play after the party
when you get home.”

Kids of 88
Music Genres: New Wave
If You Like: Mgmt, Phoenix
Introducing slutty new wave/electro duo Kids Of 88, who are Sam McCarthy and Jordan Arts. They describe their music as "a cross
between a late 80s police drama intro theme and a sophisticated super hussy". With sleazy basslines and mind-numbingly catchy
hooks, Kids Of 88 are all about poking tongues and making sweaty suggestive innuendos.

Some kids are just different. Jordan Arts and Sam McCarthy knew it from their first, strange meeting of minds at school. Asked to bring
their favorite song to class, most 12-year-olds naturally dug out Backstreet Boys or Britney CDs. To their mutual surprise, Sam and
Jordan both lugged in Jimi Hendrix LPs.

An alliance of outsiders was forged that day. As fashions shifted from dance to nu-metal and hip-hop, the two Auckland teenagers
evolved from hitting tin pots to coaxing beats, buzzes, cheeky rhymes and killer tunes from any combo of gadgets fit to plug in and twist
to their own often wicked ends.

"Jordan and I were both born in 1988," says Sam. "The name Kids of 88 sort of captures what we're doing, picking up bits and pieces of
pop culture, sifting the debris from yesteryear and making something new."

"I could trace the dance influence back to playing pots and pans in the living room, banging along to a Stereo MCs video," Jordan adds.
"But we both went through all kinds of music, played in all kinds of bands to get to this point." "I think our first recording was a live desk
track Jordan's dad took off a DAT recorder," he says. "It was the most amazing thing to have one of our own songs burned onto CD. It
sounded horrible, probably, but it was pretty cool to hear your first MP3 at the age of 14 or 15."

Armed with a precocious store of musical history, rough-edged performance skills and state-of-the-art digital recording know-how, Kids
of 88's frenzied home production unit was in full swing before they were old enough to vote.

"My House" hit the New Zealand Top 10 in 2009, and the duo's irreverent take on teenaged sexual politics was suddenly on the global
pop radar from Sydney to New York and Los Angeles. An international blur of handshakes and backslaps culminated in a deal with
Sony Music in mid 2010. Meanwhile, somewhere in the USA, the Kids landed a remix for Ke$ha's single of the moment, "Tik Tok". In
turn, Cobra Starship came knocking for a similarly sexy treatment for their "Hot Mess" single.

Before their own album was halfway finished, they'd earned a reputation as an outfit that could mash anything to anything else and
come up roses. Back in Auckland, they put the finishing touches to their now hotly anticipated debut album for the Dryden Street label.

Between the steamy club-floor insinuation s of "Just A Little Bit", the mysteriously intimate groove of "Downtown," which both also hit the
Top 10, and the opaque character sketch of "Feed The Birds", their debut album SUGARPILLS slowly defined its sordid allure.

"What would a movie be like if this was the soundtrack?" Sam muses. "That's what often directs the lyrics. They might range from really
cheeky things that we won't disclose to more specific things, like the bitter side of relationships, or little niche things in pop culture we
like to run with." "What surprised us about the album was how much of a melting pot it is," says Jordan. "We feel like we pulled off a four-
on-the-floor stomp with 'My House' so that released the pressure and allowed us to be bit more eclectic, go off on tangents."

"That moment when you show a song to another person and they get excited, it can just bounce off in any direction," says Sam. "That's
the moment we live for. It's that energy that makes a track really take off."

Having just supported Passion Pit in Auckland and Scissor Sisters in Australia, Kids of 88 are operating as a four-piece band in a
sweaty club near you, which has recently included a stop at the CMJ Music Marathon in NYC.

In fact, the U S of A features heavily in the Kids’ plans for 2011. Their new single, “Just A Little Bit,” was released in the states in
November, and in February Sony Music is taking the band’s debut EP to college radio in anticipation of a late spring U.S. release of
SUGARPILLS. A U.S. tour is also in the works for early 2011.

Additionally, Kids Of 88 were chosen to support Ke$ha on her December 2010 European tour which hit the following markets: Zurich,
Paris, Brussels, Barcelona and Madrid.
Krissi Moses
Music Genres: Pop, Rock, Ska, Dance
If You Like: Gwen Stefani, No Doubt, Alanis Morissette, Katy Perry
Los Angeles native Krissi Moses (now sharing compilation space at Virgin Megastores with Counting Crows, and adjusting to her sudden
local fame in the LA rock scene) wrote her first song at 16 at the encouragement of “Slappy” (bassist of Bargain Music – a band credited
with influencing the likes of LA legends Sublime and others). Saturday Night Magazine thinks “Slappy” is a pretty smart guy. The high-
circulation college party rag recently selected Krissi from a gaggle of high-power, upcoming talent (including several new RCA, Geffen
and Interscope installments) for their 5th annual Saturday Night Loud album (a series featuring many freshman acts gone global over the
years, including breakout phenomena Feist and The Submarines). Did we mention Krissi is also incredibly good-looking? Check out her
hot pics all over the web.

Originally courted by Columbia as a solo act, Krissi flouted the advice of her friends and family, electing instead to assemble a band from
scratch and work out her signature sound gigging live. It worked. Continuing to write, record, gig and explore new genres and sounds,
Krissi’s material is a fresh blend of rock, pop, reggae, punk and funk, best characterized by her compilation track, “You’re Forgettable”
(based wryly on her true-life first heartbreak – he’s kickin’ himself now).
Krissi just came off the road (her last show in Reno to a crowd of 2000 screaming psychos) and is completing her full length CD entitled
FREAK!!!
